AS220 is an Arts Center located in downtown Providence, RI. The 11 forms along the parapet of the AS220 building accentuate-animate existing architectural elements. The concept for this was derived from existing features - white masonry diamonds and the remnants of a guilded bronze sign attached to this upper brick facade. Originally there were gold letters up there that announced the building's occupants. The piece has calligraphic qualities, partly because of their form, scale and guilding and partly because of the sequential relationship of the structures. It visually unifies the front of the building and provides a symbolic identity for AS220.
