fabricated bronze, earth, sod
14' x 100' x 100'. 1999
Site: William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oakes, MI. bronze, earth, grass. The existing flat 100' circle is mounded to a height of 6' in the center. The piece is fabricated from sheet bronze and consists of 2 spheres, 8' and 5' in diameter. They are connected by a 26' long cone, 2' in diameter at the big end and 1'-3" in diameter at the small end. The 5' sphere is on the center of the mound. The 8' sphere sits in a groove in the earth that is circular and concentric to the outer circle. The concept was to have a piece that made sense when viewed from the ground as well as from the upper floors of the hospital.
